Introducing the team behind artclay.hu.
Our company, Glass Design Kft., was founded in 1995 by glass designer Márta Edőcs with the aim of supplying materials to her colleagues and glass workshops, as well as organizing professional courses and artistic projects.
In addition to colored glass materials, glassworking tools, books, and small machines, the topic of jewelry making was introduced later. Today, for more than 20 years, their product range has also included materials and tools for creating silver jewelry.
But how did the Art Clay story begin in Hungary?
Márti was teaching a glass course in Zurich when an Art Clay Silver jewelry-making workshop was taking place in the studio next door. That was where she first came across silver clay — a material that seemed so magical to her that she immediately began looking into how she could introduce both the material and the technique to Hungarian makers. She learned that the manufacturer was represented by one company in each country, so she applied for the right to distribute Art Clay Silver in Hungary. Together with her colleagues, she began building the new project with great enthusiasm. An instructor arrived in Budapest directly from Japan, from the manufacturer, to train the first team in the use of silver clay. After that, they had to create a series of serious examination pieces in order for the company to receive the rights to both teach and distribute the material.
That was more than 20 years ago, and since then the workshops have continued without interruption. The Glass Design team has been working continuously to promote Art Clay Silver as a material. Professional users can find a wider selection of materials and tools in the webshop at glass-design.hu.
Who are our workshop instructors?
Márti
Founder of Glass Design and one of our workshop instructors, she is a glass artist and jewelry designer. She has been working with Art Clay silver clay techniques for more than 20 years and also teaches them internationally. Her works have been presented in exhibitions around the world — including at the MAD Museum in New York — and one of her Art Clay jewelry pieces won an award in Japan.
Bogi
A silicate designer best known for her concrete objects, she is also a jewelry designer with formal training as a metalsmith. She has been teaching Art Clay techniques alongside Márti for the past two years. She is also the creator of our website and has played a major role in developing our renewed visual identity and communication.
Who are the people behind the scenes?
Petra
A designer who first joined us as an intern during her university years, and our collaboration has continued ever since. Among other projects, we created our previous base, KO7, together. Since the birth of her young son, she has been supporting our work on a project basis, helping with artclay.hu social media posts as well as the editing and management of our newsletters.
Noémi
Our youngest and newest team member, she brings a fresh perspective to our work. With a background in technical management, experience in communication, and a genuine enthusiasm for crafts and hobby techniques, she looks at our activities from a different angle. She supports Márti’s work in the areas of organization and communication.
Attila
Our longest-standing colleague, she has been working at Glass Design Kft.’s Sopron store for nearly 30 years.
In addition to assisting customers in person, she manages the glass-design.hu webshop, orders received through artclay.hu, inventory records, invoicing, incoming and outgoing shipments, and customs administration.

Márta Edőcs
glass and jewelry designer
She first encountered this fantastic material in Switzerland and immediately fell in love with it, deciding to explore it more seriously. She completed the professional training provided by the Japanese manufacturer of Art Clay Silver, and Glass Design Kft. was granted the right to distribute the material in Hungary. She has been teaching the technique for 20 years, leading workshops both in Hungary and internationally, while also gaining international recognition as a jewelry designer. One of her most important invitations was to the MAD About Jewelry exhibition at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York, where she has participated twice with her jewelry pieces.
Her work is characterized by minimalism, and she often combines glass with silver, as well as traditional metalsmithing techniques with metal clay. She is curious and experimental by nature, constantly creating new series of work. In her pieces, organic elements appear here and there alongside more regular, structured forms.
Boglárka Mázsi

She met Márti during the Covid period, when they were both participating in a mentoring program. They quickly found common ground, and after a few joint projects, the idea emerged to work together on the Budapest silver jewelry-making workshops. By that time, Bogi had also completed her training as a metalsmith, and her background as a ceramic artist made her especially well suited to the role. In addition to metals, Bogi also works extensively with ceramics and concrete. Her work unfolds on the border between conceptual design and material experimentation, where objects become quiet imprints of change and permanence. She is a member of the Italian AGC Associazione Gioiello Contemporaneo, and her work has already been presented at several international exhibitions.
