Art Clay Silver – Creativity with Japanese Precision
If you’ve ever dreamed of crafting your own unique silver jewelry by hand, the Art Clay Silver product line is made for you! Developed by Aida Ltd. in Japan, this high-quality silver clay was designed specifically for artistic and hobby use—perfect for working in your own studio, at home, or in one of our hands-on workshops.
In this post, we’ll introduce you to the two main types of Art Clay Silver, along with the versatility of the paste and syringe versions, so you can discover which best suits your creative goals.
Art Clay Silver or Art Clay Silver 950 – What’s the Difference?
The Art Clay Silver product line comes in several variations. While they may look similar at first glance, they have distinct properties that make them suitable for different types of jewelry projects.
Art Clay Silver (Original Formula)
This is the original version, and it is the material most people use — just like the participants in our workshops. We also recommend it to anyone who would like to create hypoallergenic jewelry. It is excellent for shaping, easy to sand, and can be fired at a lower temperature, around 650–800°C — either in a small kiln or with a gas torch. After firing, pure silver (99.9%) remains, which can then be polished or patinated.
Ideal for pendants, earrings, or rings.
Art Clay Silver 950
This version is designed for creating stronger, harder, and more durable jewelry pieces.
After firing, the result is 95% pure silver, which has greater hardness, making it much more suitable for everyday rings, thin pieces, or jewelry exposed to stronger mechanical stress, such as a bracelet.
It is also a perfect choice for more professional-level work.
Art Clay Silver Paste — for when you want to create fine details
Silver paste is a thick, fluid form of Art Clay Silver, developed specifically for joining pieces, making fine repairs, adding decorative details, and creating effects such as silver leaves.
What can it be used for?
- As an adhesive when joining elements made from Art Clay Silver clay, or when making rings.
- For filling and repairing possible cracks in dried objects made from Art Clay Silver clay before firing.
- For creating small surface patterns and textures.
For example, it can be used to coat leaves. After firing, the organic leaf burns away, leaving only the silver leaf behind.
Art Clay Silver Syringe — creating three-dimensional patterns with ease
The syringe type is suitable for decorating pieces made from silver clay, as well as for creating flat or three-dimensional openwork patterns and pierced surfaces. The material is similar to Art Clay Silver Paste, but slightly thicker in consistency, and can be applied through a syringe with a fine nozzle. It allows you to draw precise patterns before firing, either onto pieces made from silver clay or onto a core made from a material that burns away during firing, such as wood clay, cork, or paper forms.
What can it be used for?
- For building lace-like, three-dimensional patterns, such as flowers, petals, and mesh-like structures.
- For surface decoration, on both flat and raised surfaces.
- It can also be used to strengthen structural connections.
Tipp: A fecskendőhöz különböző méretű csőrök kaphatók, mellyekkel változatos vastagságú minta készíthető.
Art Clay Silver Sheets
Art Clay Silver Sheets are made for lovers of origami. With these easily shapeable silver clay sheets, you can create beautiful wavy or folded forms. They are excellent for making earrings or pendants inspired by the world of origami. Some previous experience is recommended for working with them.
What can it be used for?
- For creating folded or wavy forms.
- For creating jewelry with a geometric design language.
- For creating surface decorations.
Art Clay Silver is not just a material, but a creative opportunity.
Whether you are making a simple pendant or a complex three-dimensional piece of jewelry, by choosing the right type and using the paste or syringe creatively, anyone can create special, one-of-a-kind silver pieces. The developments of the Japanese company Aida Ltd. and the reliable quality of their products ensure exceptional results.

The Hungarian distributor of Art Clay Silver
Our company, Glass Design Kft., is the exclusive distributor of Art Clay Silver products in Hungary. In our webshop, several types and package sizes are available, together with the necessary tools.
Art Clay Silver itself arrived in Hungary more than a decade and a half ago, and not long after that, the idea of the first jewelry-making workshops also emerged. Their launch was preceded by serious preparation.
An instructor representing the manufacturer came from Japan to train our Hungarian team in the use of the material and to help develop the curriculum for the basic courses and workshops.
Since then, we have come a long way in making Art Clay Silver known as a material in Hungary.
In our webshop and in our Sopron store, you can find everything you need to create Art Clay Silver jewelry.
We’ll show you how to use Art Clay Silver!
