The Art Clay Silver material arrived in Hungary more than a decade and a half ago, and shortly after, the idea for the first jewelry-making workshops emerged, the launch of which was preceded by serious preparations. Instructors representing the manufacturer arrived from Japan to train our local team in using the material and assisted in developing the curriculum for the basic courses and workshops. We’ve come a long way until the Art Clay Silver material became well-known in Hungary.
What is Art Clay Silver, and why do we use it in our jewelry-making workshops?
The Art Clay Silver used in our jewelry-making workshops is a clay-like, or rather ceramic-clay-like, material developed and manufactured in Japan and made from real silver.
In its wet state, this silver clay can be easily shaped into jewelry. Once dry, it can be fired. During firing, the organic material binding the silver particles together burns away, leaving behind 99.9% pure silver jewelry.
Art Clay Silver silver clay can be used to create silver jewelry of such high purity that it can even be worn by people who struggle with metal allergies.

How do our jewelry-making workshops work?
Our jewelry-making workshops usually begin with a brief introduction and detailed technical information, followed by a practical demonstration of how to use the silver clay. After this, with theoretical knowledge of the techniques, everyone designs their own piece of jewelry, which they will create during the workshop. Our workshop leaders will, of course, assist you with inspiration and ideas.
After the theoretical and design phase comes one of the most exciting parts: creating the jewelry and properly drying it. After drying, we further refine the shape and then fire it in a kiln. Then, Voila! Your custom-designed silver jewelry is ready! You can polish and shine it, but it’s essentially ready to wear!

How should you prepare for an Art Clay Silver jewelry-making workshop?
For our jewelry-making workshops in Budapest, please wear comfortable clothing, but there is nothing else you need to prepare. We provide all the tools you will need during the workshop to create your own silver jewelry. Of course, if you have any tools you enjoy using, feel free to bring them with you.
Modeling tools, for example, can be useful when shaping the silver clay and forming your piece.
Most importantly, don’t forget to bring your creative spirit with you!
